According to a recent index of visitors to a Web site for prospective second-home buyers, Myrtle Beach, S.C., was a top destination selected in online searches.
EscapeHomes.com, which issues the monthly Second Home Market Index based on consumers online searches, also reported that South Padre Island, Texas; Naples, Fla.; Holden Beach, N.C.; Ocean City, N.J.; Las Vegas, Nev.; San Diego, Calif.; Park City, Utah; Orlando, Fla.; and Santa Fe, N.M., in that order, were also top destinations picked by Web site visitors.
EscapeHomes.com offers real estate tools and listings for vacation, investment and retirement homes.
David Hehman, president of EscapeHomes.com, said that gaining insight into top markets can help consumers to “find the right destinations, professional assistance, and properties.” The results of the index are based on more than 200,000 property searches made on the EscapeHomes.com Web site in February.
In January, Myrtle Beach was fourth on the list, while Holden Beach was first on the list. Investors comprised 62 percent of the Myrtle Beach home seekers, while 18 percent were looking for a vacation home, 15 percent were searching for a retirement property, and 5 percent were planning to relocate, the company announced.
