Online
Marketing has to do with advertising your web address
on other web sites.
This is usually in the form of a simple hyperlink, but
can be made as elaborate as an animated banner flashing
your web address and specials you are offering. The key
is to find the sites relevant to your business that gets
the most qualified traffic. This could be a directory,
an on-line newspaper, the Chamber of Commerce, local information
sites, a local business associate's site, and so forth.
One of the best things about adding your web address to
other sites is that it can be free.
Many search engine placement companies throw out stats
that 80-90% of all traffic on the Internet comes from
search engines, but the fine print to understand here
is that while traffic may come from a search engine, people
often reach the sites they are looking for from a link
on another site. For example, let's say someone is researching
an area they are relocating to and they see a link for
local businesses and insurance agents. They know that
they need a new insurance agent when they move, so they
click on the link, go to your site, and contact you. The
idea here is that you don't need any search engine placement
to get traffic from them - it is sufficient to be listed
on the directories that are popular on the search engines.

method is referral-based business with businesses you
share a clientele with and is often called reciprocal
