Story
Baird's early years were spent in the family owned and
operated commercial printing firm, Economy Printing. He actively
learned and assisted in the growth of the business over 14
years - from two presses to 10, from four employees to 30.
During his college years, his entrepreneurial thinking and
risk taking beliefs led him to form a number of innovative
and creative start-up companies. When
Steve Weber first met and
worked side-by-side with
Dave Baird
at QuestCom, they sensed their
complementary talents. Each recognized in the other a common
drive, strong work ethic, and the shared vision to create a
company that would provide opportunities for themselves,
employees, and clients -- utilizing the power of the Internet.
The formation of Z57.com was a natural progression. The co-founders,
Weber and Baird, launched the company on December 14, 1998
in San Diego, California. The firm capitalizes on its access to
technological savvy web designers, experienced software programmers,
and energetic sales individuals. The development
of their expert sales team was, and is, a direct result of
the top management team's combined experience of over 40 years
in building strong sales and marketing organizations.
The company business plan called for the strategy of focusing
on niche vertical markets and developing scalable systems.
Management refined their products, sales, training, and product
delivery processes. They developed their infrastructure and
operational systems. In the spring of 1999, with a team of
eight, they launched their Real Estate division. By the fall
of 1999, they expanded their office space (for the third time
in less than a year), and increased the company's sales team
from 10 to 20 reps. The Custom / e-Commerce division was also
originated at this time. The year 2000 saw the launch of the
Insurance division, the expansion of the sales staff to about
50, and the office space grow from 2,700 to over 9,000 square feet.
When asked how Z57.com is different from other firms, Steve
Weber states, "We're unique because we take the time to educate
and teach our clients about the Internet. We want to watch
our customers grow and be there for them to upgrade their
sites and to keep them current with the fast-paced, ever-evolving
Internet."
Z57.com is taking its team of quality sales, marketing, and
technical professionals to the next level. Z57's top management
anticipates and thrives on change and growth. The future,
as they foresee it, will be written with their same auspicious
formulas for continued growth. If the company's explosive growth
over their first two years is any indication; Z57.com is a
company to watch. The "dot" in their dot com is meant to stay
- period.
